Quote from the President of Phase Change Energy Solutions USA:
“We regularly install our material in restaurants and commercial buildings and have never had any issues of it attracting rodents; however, it is true that rats will eat through almost anything in their way including wood, metal, insulation, etc.
We use a complex chemical procedure to remove the fatty esters from soy, palm-RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil ), coconut or (in the future) algae. These acidic fatty esters are then blended with a nano scale thickening agent made of spherical bits of silica as shown in the electron microscope images (see below).
Our products are not so much soy, palm or coconut oils, rather we use a waste product created in the food manufacturing process, that we perform a chemical process to remove the acidic fatty esters. These acidic fatty esters are too acidic for consumption and contain no nutritional value so should not in any way attract rodents.”
